Join us for a community conversation with Irene Butter, Holocaust survivor and author of “Shores Beyond Shores: From Holocaust to Hope – My True Story.” This event is open to the public without charge, although reservations are encouraged to ensure your seat.
This special event is being presented by The Mitten Word Bookshop of Marshall, and will feature a talk with – and by – Ms. Butter, whose experiences as a child in World War II Europe will fascinate and move you. Her inspiring story – written in collaboration with John D. Bidwell and Kris Holloway – is an account of how the heart keeps its common humanity in the most inhumane and turbulent of times.
Ms. Butter’s first-person account of her family’s life in a Dutch concentration camp – and even her own encounter with her Amsterdam neighbor Anne Frank – casts additional light on a dark period of history that should never be repeated. We hope that you will join us for this important and unique event, which will be moderated by journalist John C. Sherwood, a member of Great Escape’s board of directors.
NOTE: Butter’s book is available to purchase or reserve at The Mitten Word Bookshop and will be available for purchase that evening. Any copy obtained through the bookshop may be signed by Irene Butter that evening.
