How to Book Your Seat

Beginning at 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 22, Great Escape Stage Company will present a FREE LIVE BOOK-READING MARATHON, during which performers will read aloud from John Bellairs’ novel “A House with a Clock in Its Walls” during a single performance at the company’s black-box theater space at 110 E. Michigan Ave., Marshall.

The event will be part of the festivities planned that week in association with the premiere of the Jack Black/Cate Blanchett movie based on the novel. The goal is to read as much of the book as possible in a single reading during an event that honors the legacy of Marshall native John Bellairs. For this purpose, Great Escape has received approval from the copyright holders for this performance.

Between 1 and roughly 5:30 pm, audiences will be invited to listen to the reading while seated in the sheltered comfort of our theater at 110 E. Michigan Ave., Marshall, which seats approximately 80 people. Listeners may come and go as they please in an “open house” environment.

No admission charge will be requested. Instead, Great Escape will accept donations and sell concessions, all of which will be directed to the theater’s operating fund. PLEASE JOIN US FOR THE FUN OF THIS GREAT STORY!
